But I did not grow up knowing how money worked.
I grew up in Manila, Philippines. My family moved often because money was tight. There were times when meals were as simple as rice with oil or soy sauce.
Money was always important.
But nobody talked about it.
Like many people, I learned about money through mistakes, pressure, and survival.
A scholarship gave me access to better education. Later, I earned a master’s degree in quantitative finance and built a career helping businesses understand their numbers.
But education did not protect me from failure.
I once started a food and beverage business near a college. I believed hard work would be enough.
It was not.
Fixed costs kept coming. Sales slowed down. My savings disappeared. At my lowest point, I had to survive an entire week with only ₱100.
That experience changed how I viewed money.
I stopped seeing wealth as something glamorous.
Wealth became safety.
It became the ability to pay bills without fear. To recover from emergencies. To leave bad situations. To make decisions without desperation.
That is why I created CashHeaven.
