Description:

MONTH function in Excel or Google Sheets converts a serial number of a date to a day of the month.
It returns an integer from 1-12 as we see in calendars.

You can use MONTH function to get the MONTH number from your TODAY function or NOW function which can be used in dashboards and summary sheets.

I commonly use this MONTH function together with DAY function, YEAR, and DATE function.

=MONTH(serial_number)

Arguments 

serial_number – this is the date or serial number representing a date

---

Examples 

45258 in cell B7 is a serial number corresponding to November 28, 2023
