Description:

YEAR function in Excel or Google Sheets converts a serial number of a date to a day of the month.
It returns an integer from 1990 to future years.

You can use YEAR function to get the MONTH number from your TODAY function or NOW function which can be used in dashboards and summary sheets. As of this writing, you would get 2023.

I commonly use this YEAR function together with DAY function, MONTH function, and DATE function.

Arguments 

serial_number – this is the date or serial number representing a date

Examples 

45258 in cell B7 is a serial number corresponding to November 28, 2023
